Changing attribute names means that views displaying such attribute will sort of loose the related column. Apparently they do not loose it really because changing the attribute’s name back to its origin, the related column reapears. |
Re: How to change attribute name and reasign renamed attribute to existing view Additionaly, you should add some "1b." step: 1. store the column settings of all related views 1b. delete associated columns of all related views 2. rename the attribute 3. recreate the column according the data stored in step 1 in all related views If you don't delete columns, there is a small chance that a future attribute with the same name will be displayed. |
Re: How to change attribute name and reasign renamed attribute to existing view ePiallat - Tue Nov 03 10:12:37 EST 2009 there's an easier way for preserving the columns of a view while you are deleting/re-creating attributes: Just activate the standard view before makink those modifications and re-activate the previous view after all modification have been saved. As far as the standard view has no user defined atttributes (columns) there's nothing to loose. Hint: works until DOORS 8.3. Cheers Illo |
Re: How to change attribute name and reasign renamed attribute to existing view Illo_993 - Wed Nov 04 03:29:37 EST 2009 If you are in a view that does have the attribute in a column, change the attribute name then the column heading will change name as well (well as long as you have not given it a specific name) and you can save the view. That rescues that view. However, in other views the column with that attribute will be gone! /Kristian |
